Better education in rural areas
Scholarships for pupils and teachers
Over the last decades, China has emerged like no other country. Through its enormous economic growth, China has ascended to the position of second largest economy in the world. Yet, not every region is profiting from this growth. While the cities are booming, some rural areas are still suffering from various challenges including low income, inadequate infrastructure and a low level of education opportunities.
A few years ago, Linde China extended its operational footprint to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan, Western China. In order to improve education conditions in the mostly rural Sichuan province, Linde has teamed up with the Red Flower Elementary School in E Bian Yi Autonomous County – a region inhabited mainly by minority nationalities. The programme called “Linde enables your dreams” is supporting the school by setting up a scholarship programme and by providing teaching resources.
The scholarship programme is intended to motivate students to achieve excellent grades, but also rewards outstanding teachers. At the same time, it provides financial support for underprivileged teachers. In addition, Linde sponsors books, stationery, sports equipment and other teaching resources such as laptops, which have enabled the school to establish a multimedia classroom to develop the pupils’ computer skills.
The programme helps school children to pursue their studies and learn new skills. Providing them with a better education raises the chances for a better future.
